The Moon, 1969
Space exploration is the ultimate form of travel. It's a subject that ignited my imagination as a child and makes me emotional as an adult. Sadly it won't likely be something I will do in my lifetime, but the images from the recently public Project Apollo Archive capture all of those feelings on film. They are stirring and dream-like; they take us back in time but also conjure the future. The collection of 8,400 hi-res images was painstakingly processed from original Hasselblad images taken by NASA astronaut chest-mounted cameras during the historic manned lunar landing program. Recently the archive, compiled by Kipp Teague over the course of 15 years, was uploaded to Flickr for all of us wide-eyed sky watchers to revel in.
