Girl Bike Gangs of Morocco

The title was enough to intrigue me. But when I clicked through the photographs by artists Hassan Hajjaj, my jaw dropped. The colours, the patterns, the heart-shaped shades! And beyond the high-energy visuals—a refreshing musing on Arabic culture and femininity. "Borrowing from the tradition of African studio photography and the glossy aesthetic of the fashion shoot, Hajjaj’s work combines the personal with the political, the individuality of his subjects framed by consumer goods and adorned with the trappings of culture and branding." I've had a Morocco guidebook sitting on my shelf for a few years now (from a trip that fell through). And that's it, this is how I need to explore the country—on two wheels, in pattern-clashing glory.
