Weekend: New York I
WHERE DID WE STAY? Four Points Sheraton in Soho. Clean and affordable. Perk: Location.
BEST MEALS: Our four short days were filled to the brim with deliciousness: Freemans: artichoke dip appetizer and a “dark+ stormy” cocktail. The bar has the best vibe, and lots of trendy taxidermy; Stanton Social: anything! Sliders, corn dogs, death by chocolate; Morandi: simple Italian breakfast; Le Pain Quotidien in Soho: go for the people watching (hipster families enjoying their brunch) it makes the food taste better; Magnolia: cupcakes. We taste-tested chocolate and red-velvet.
NATURAL HIGH: Enjoying an unseasonably warm day, lying on the grass in Central Park. Walking, walking and walking some more.
DON’T MISS: The New Museum, go for the great exhibits but secretly enjoy the cool elevators, terrace and stocked gift-shop more
• Taking a walk across Brooklyn bridge
• A visit to Fabulous Fanny’s, if you’re bespectacled.
HIGHLIGHT: Getting there on Porter Air, and skipping Pearson (airport). So civilized & quick and who can say no to free wine, veggie chips and the beautifully designed in-flight magazine. Plus: Getting to celebrate my best-friend’s 30th.
BIZARRO MOMENTS: A cheesy waiter in Little Italy actually using the phrase “forgetaboutit”. Lol.
HOW COULD THERE POSSIBLY BE SO MUCH: Good food.
MOST RELAXED: In Williamsburg’s Blackbird Parlour, sipping on beers and hipster watching.
COOLEST BUY: Friendship rings at By Boe in Soho. A little-bit nerdy, but a lot cute.
